VK Cloud Launches a Scientist Support Program
In celebration of the Decade of Science and Technology, VK Cloud has launched a research support program. Universities, teams, and individual specialists will be able to use the resources of the VK Cloud cloud platform to work on scientific problems. The starting grant for each participant is 500,000 rubles in bonus funds for VK Cloud services.
VK Cloud tools will help develop scientific projects at various stages. Program participants will have access to infrastructure and platform cloud services: pre-configured databases, ready-to-use servers, a platform for creating and testing ML models, and other tools.
In addition to infrastructure, program participants will receive project development consultations from VK Tech technical experts. Additionally, teams will receive assistance with project coverage on VK Tech media resources.
Universities, laboratories, as well as students and IT specialists who work on research projects together with scientists, are eligible to participate in the support program. Selection for the program is based on criteria including the scientific significance of a project, its technological advancement, public openness, and scalability.
“VK Cloud‘s cloud technologies and services will enable support program participants to quickly obtain the necessary technologies and computing power for a project or research task. All services are ready to work out of the box. We will address issues related to IT infrastructure administration, allowing researchers to focus solely on their core activities. Young scientists and experienced teams will be able to focus on testing hypotheses, developing projects, and conducting research,” commented Dmitry Lazarenko, Director of Cloud Services at VK Tech.
VK Cloud already has experience supporting scientific projects. For example, in 2024, cloud technologies supported the “Conservation of Dalmatian and Great White Pelicans” program for the study and protection of rare birds. Researchers now have an easier time monitoring, estimating bird populations, tracking their movements, and monitoring the well-being of nesting colonies.
The “Solutions and Services for the Professional Community” initiative of the Decade of Science and Technology aims to develop services and platforms that will enhance the workspace experience for scientists, engineers, technology entrepreneurs, and other members of the professional community. Digitalization will allow them to simplify their work tasks and make processes more efficient and transparent.
